Super Bugger Olive Red

The Olive/Red Super Bugger combines the natural, fishy look of olive with a red hot spot for extra attraction. Olive is one of the most effective bugger colors, imitating leeches, sculpins, crayfish, and minnows. The addition of red at the throat or body band gives the fly a “wounded prey” appearance that can trigger strikes from hesitant fish.

History

As with other Super Bugger variations, this fly evolved from the Woolly Bugger by incorporating modern synthetic chenilles and color accents. The olive/red version became especially popular among trout and bass anglers, since it strikes a balance between natural imitation and eye-catching contrast. It is a proven producer in both clear and slightly stained water.
