Stonefly Black

Represents large black stonefly nymphs such as Pteronarcys or Taeniopteryx. These are important food sources, especially in colder, fast mountain streams.

History:
One of the oldest stonefly patterns, this fly has been tied in various forms for over a century. The non-beadhead versions are fished with split shot or weighted leaders to get them down in fast currents.
