The Pink Albert Parachute imitates the Pale Morning Dun (PMD) or Pink Albert mayflies, particularly the Ephemerella infrequens and E. inermis species that exhibit pinkish or rusty-pink hues during their dun stage. The parachute hackle allows the fly to ride flush in the surface film, presenting a highly realistic silhouette of an emerging or freshly emerged adult mayfly. It's especially effective during summer hatches when PMDs are prevalent in the West.

History:
The Pink Albert Parachute is a more recent evolution of PMD imitations, developed for technical waters where trout are selective to slight color variations. As fly fishers observed that some PMDs—especially on rivers like the Henry’s Fork, Green, and Silver Creek—tended toward a pinkish or dusty rose coloration, tiers adapted their flies accordingly. The parachute version gained popularity in the 2000s and is now a standard pattern on many Western tailwaters and spring creeks due to its visibility, realism, and high floatation.
