Hendrickson, Dark

The Dark Hendrickson matches Ephemerella subvaria, a medium-to-large mayfly found in spring hatches, particularly in the Northeast and Midwest. The darker-bodied male duns have a brownish-olive body and gray wings.

History:
One of the classic Catskill-style dry flies, the Hendrickson was developed in the early 20th century by Roy Steenrod and named after his friend A.E. Hendrickson. The dark version is tied to imitate the male dun, one of the first major hatches of the spring.
