Griddle Bug Black

A large, buggy pattern that imitates stonefly nymphs, hellgrammites, or even crayfish. The rubber legs provide movement that attracts trout in swift, rocky water.

History:
A simple and highly effective Western pattern, the Girdle Bug is a descendant of earlier stonefly designs. First popularized in Montana, it remains a go-to fly for deep pockets and fast riffles. Without a bead, it’s best fished with added split shot or as part of a weighted tandem rig.
