The Comparadun Adams is a dry fly pattern designed to imitate adult mayflies during their dun stage—especially species with upright wings and slender bodies like Blue-Winged Olives, Pale Morning Duns, and other gray- or brown-hued mayflies. Unlike traditional hackled flies, the Comparadun uses a fan-shaped deer hair wing and no hackle, giving it a low-riding, realistic silhouette that closely matches the natural mayfly's delicate appearance on the water surface.

History:

The Comparadun style was developed in the 1970s as an evolution of the Sparkle Dun and No-Hackle dry flies, offering improved realism and presentation for selective trout. The Adams version of the Comparadun applies the trusted gray body and subtle brown tones of the classic Adams to this more modern, minimalist profile. It quickly gained popularity among anglers targeting wary fish in slower, clear water where a low-floating, realistic pattern can make all the difference.
