Chironomid Black

Imitates a chironomid larva or pupa—especially common in lakes and slow-moving rivers. Black is the most widespread color for chironomids.

History:
Chironomid patterns date back to traditional lake fishing in the UK and evolved through North American stillwater fly design. Non-beadhead versions are often used under indicators with slow retrieves or suspended rigs.
