Bitch Creek

Primarily imitates stonefly nymphs, but its buggy profile also suggests hellgrammites or large aquatic insects. The rubber legs and two-tone body (typically black/orange) add realism and visibility in off-color or fast water.

History:
Created in the 1950s by Idaho anglers for use on Wyoming’s Bitch Creek, this pattern became a Western classic. It’s often tied large (sizes 6–10) and fished with split shot in swift runs. The pattern has remained popular for decades as a high-contrast, rugged stonefly imitation.
